Walk-on rooflights
Walk-on rooflights are insulated roof assemblies where the upper surface is also a walkable finish, so they bridge roof performance with floor loading requirements. The outer laminated zone carries slip resistance and point loads, while the lower cavity meets U-value targets for the room underneath.
They appear on townhouses and commercial roof gardens where the terrace must stay level with door thresholds. Coordination with falls to drains, door thresholds and guardrail bases is done on a single section so the waterproofing warranty is not punctured by ad-hoc trims added late on site.
Standard Glass Specification
Outer: Structural laminated walk-on outer with anti-slip finish and declared characteristic load.
Cavity: 16mm argon-filled warm-edge cavity separating walk surface from conditioned space.
Inner: 6.8mm laminated low-E toughened inner leaf for overhead fallout protection.
Upstand: Insulated curb with thermal break aligned to door threshold and paving build-up.
Drainage: Perimeter weeps and internal condensation channels tied to roof outlets.
