Circular rooflight

Circular rooflights suit landings, dining tables and stair cores where the architect wants a single sculptural roof puncture rather than a long slot. The insulated glass unit is typically fixed; the technical effort goes into the kerb ring, insulation continuity and internal lining radius so the ceiling reads cleanly.

Low-iron outer glass is often specified to avoid green cast on pale finishes below. Because the perimeter is curved, gasket pressure and cap fixings are checked on a radial setting-out drawing so the unit does not pinch at 12 o’clock while remaining loose at the spring points during thermal movement.

Standard Glass Specification

Outer: 6mm low-iron toughened glass for neutral daylight colour.
Cavity: 16mm argon-filled cavity with circular warm-edge spacer ring.
Inner: 6.4mm laminated low-E toughened glass for overhead safety and acoustic damping.
Geometry: Diameter and kerb tolerance bands issued for concrete or timber upstand pour.
Coating: Optional selective solar-control layer if the circle sits under open summer sky.
