Walk-on rooflight

Walk-on rooflights combine an insulating zone with a structural laminated walk surface rated for the maintenance or occupancy load declared by the engineer. Slip resistance, drainage falls and condensation risk at the perimeter are treated as one package because the outer ply sees foot traffic and weather at the same time.

They are used over basement light wells, kitchen extensions and roof terraces where the roof must stay usable. Inner leaves stay laminated for fallout protection, while the outer stack may include sacrificial surfaces or replaceable tread mats depending on how often the terrace is walked on.

Standard Glass Specification

Outer: Laminated walk-on outer build-up with anti-slip finish and declared characteristic load.
Cavity: Argon-filled insulating cavity beneath the structural walk zone where U-value demands it.
Inner: Laminated low-E toughened inner leaf sized for residual strength after outer damage.
Interlayer: Ionoplast or thick PVB stack selected from structural calculation and exposure class.
Drainage: Weep paths and rebates coordinated with the waterproofing contractor’s detail.
